Catherine Bearder MEP
Following the announcement of the result of the European elections on 7 June Sharon Bowles and Catherine Bearder have been elected as Liberal Democrat MEPs for the South East region (which covers all of Surrey).
Esher and Walton Chairman David Loader said "I am delighted that Sharon and Catherine were elected to represent our region. Sharon has been a fantastic MEP since 2005 and Catherine will be a great addition to the Liberal Democrat team in Brussels.
"Both Sharon and Catherine have visited us in the last eighteen months meeting local residents and campaigning on key issues and are passionate about looking after the interests of Elmbridge in Europe."

1. Sharon Bowles has been a South-East MEP since 2005. She visited Cobham and Oxshott in April 2008 to campaign alongside Friends of the Earth on climate change in Cobham town centre and see problems with ticket purchase facilities at Oxshott train station.
2. Catherine Bearder MEP was elected in 2009. In November 2008 she visited Claygate and Hinchley Wood to examine problems with road maintenance and street lighting, and visited elderly residents in Esher and Weston Green.
