Liberal Democrats campaign against Kingston Hospital A&E and Maternity services closure

Liberal Democrat MPs Edward Davey and Susan Kramer have submitted a petition against the closure of Kingston Hospital's A&E and Maternity Departments. With so many residents from the eastern side of Elmbridge reliant on Kingston hospital reliant on these services, they were supported by Esher and Walton Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Lionel Blackman and Long Ditton Councillor Shweta Kapadia.

Cllr Shweta Kapadia said "It is unthinkable, that in an emergency we would need to dash to St George's in Tooting. When Nick Clegg, leader of the Liberal Democrats recently visited Kingston Hospital to meet some of the patients, doctors and nurses I made him aware of the strong opposition there is in Long Ditton and other areas of Elmbridge to the proposed closures."
