The Esher and Walton Parliamentary constituency covers most of the Elmbridge Borough Council area including: Claygate, Cobham, East Molesey, Esher, Hersham, Hinchley Wood, Long Ditton, Oxshott, Stoke D'Abernon, Thames Ditton, Walton-on-Thames, Weston Green and West Molesey.
Walton-on-Thames is the 12th largest town in Surrey, but many of the other areas have very distinct characters and are villages or towns in themselves.
The area is bordered by the River Thames to the North and the M25 to the south with the A3 running through the middle. With nine train stations to direct trains to Waterloo and fast road links, it is an area often favoured by commuters.
Elmbridge is considered to have one of the highest qualities of life in Britain. The landscapes of the river Thames and the Mole which run through the area together with areas such as Esher Common (which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest or SSSI) mean the area has many aesthetic qualities.
The area is bordered to the north-east by the Twickenham parliamentary constituency which is represented in Parliament by Liberal Democrat MP Business Secretary Vince Cable. The area is bordered to the east by the Kingston and Surbiton parliamentary constituency which is represented in Parliament by the Liberal Democrat Employment Relations Minister Ed Davey MP. For more information on either MP see 'Links' page.
