The Liberal Democrats believe in engaging with and listening to fellow residents and the local community. This website features regular polls of residents views.

In our Winter 2010 poll we asked whether you thought Walton needs a dedicated Police Station following the decision by Surrey Police to promote the site as an 'opportunity site'*. This could see the station being sold to developers for housing. A consultation is underway as to where residents would like to meet their neighbourhood police officers, meaning the central site in Walton would no longer be used for this purpose. Residents would have to meet officers in other locations and call out times for emergencies would increase as officers travel from stations further away.
Liberal Democrats would not support the loss of the Police Station from such a large residential area as Walton. Other ways must be found to reduce costs. 93% of you also believe that Walton needs a dedication police facility and would not support the loss of the current station.
*Opportunity sites come from the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) which is compiled by a panel who advise on sites which have been ʻpromotedʼ by their owners.
