Hersham pedestrian crossing setback

12.00.00am GMT Sat 12th Dec 2009

Local Liberal Democrat campaigners, fighting for a pedestrian crossing across Molesey Road between Hersham Library, and the bus stop opposite were disappointed but not surprised by Elmbridge Local Committee's decision last week to take no action.

Hersham Liberal Democrats are unconvinced by the Local Highways Manager's statement to the Committee that it is "impossible" to locate a crossing over the stretch of road in question.

Simon Lumb, Liberal spokesman, said " we are determined to work for the introduction of this crossing before someone is killed or injured on this dangerous stretch of road".
